Using Autocrat to personalize emails, progress reports and data sheets

Session Description

Autocrat is an add-on for Google Sheets that is similar to an old-fashioned mail merge. This time-saving tool can help you personalize your classroom and streamline communications. Learn about what it can do for you, and how to set it up!

Learner Outcomes

By the end of the sessions participants will know / be able to: 
  1. Build their own mail-merge documents to easy w/ paperwork burden
  2. Demonstrate competent knowledge of autocrat and other advanced Google Add-Ons
  3. Create dynamic reports facilitating parent communication

Activity 1: Fill out the Digital Survey

Fill out the survey below.  When you are done, we are going to show you how Autocrat works.  It will be fast, but you'll get step by step directions ASAP.

Autocrat Information Session

Activity 2: Create digital student survey

This activity will walk participants on how to digitize their beginning of the year survey so they can collect contact information directly from your students.

Activity 3: Create sample master google doc for autocrat

Participants will copy and create a document that better suits their needs as teachers.  Teachers will be able to understand how tags work and how to make them work with forms and spreadsheets.

You can create a new one or modify one this one

Activity 4: Walk through a step by step instruction on doing an autocrat merge

Facilitators will walk participants through step-by-step directions to create their own mail-merge document.  We will do this twice and monitor so participants are following along.

Acceleration Activity: Other templates and e-mailing reports

Facilitators will showcase other uses for Autocrat in the classroom.  They will also discuss other Add-ons if the participants have mastered Autocrat.
