Session Description

Parent involvement is a key indicator in student performance. Learn how to involve even the most reticent of parents using Remind, Newsletters, Website, Skype into Classes. Learn how to setup Google Parent Contact logs, Google Voice, and import contact information into your address book.

Learner Outcomes

By the end of the sessions participants will know / be able to: 
  1. Participants will know how to digitize their beginning of the year survey to increase parent participation in class
  2. Participants will be able to see the pros and cons of each communication method
  3. Be able to set up different accounts to communicate with parents

Activity 1: What Tools Do we Currently Use?

Complete the answer garden activity as a warm up to discuss what tools you currently use and how to improve communication.

Activity 2: Walkthrough of Tools

Review the Google slide presentation discussing Google Voice, Blogs, Class websites, Emails, Remind, and Newsletters with in depth discussion on how to create and pros and cons

Activity 3: Work Time to Develop Accounts and Contact Methods

Work time  to set up two different types of tools help communicate with parents!
