Session Description

What questions do you ask to encourage higher level questions? How do you know if a question or assignment includes higher level skills? What are some strategies to deliver higher order questions in the classroom? Effective questioning skills are essential to guiding students into higher level thinking and checking for understanding. In this session, you will learn about effective question stems, how to probe and extend student thinking, scaffold, differentiate questioning, and how to develop student-centered discussion.

Learner Outcomes

By the end of the sessions participants will know / be able to:
  1. Identify higher level thinking questions and understand the value of using HLQs in your classroom.
  2. Create questions in the classroom that foster higher level thinking.
  3. Apply questioning strategies within the learning environment.

Activity 3:

  1. Create an infographic as a brainstorming resource you can refer back to during the upcoming school year.
  2. Provide a specific instructional idea at each level of SAMR
  3. Correlate each instructional idea to the appropriate level of Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy.
